Meet the Staff - Steven J. Virgadamo
From 1986 to 1988, Mr. Virgadamo served the Diocese of Wilmington, Delaware, as Director of Development and Stewardship. In that capacity he supervised the Annual Catholic Appeal and worked with fifty-seven parishes in the design and implementation of parish development programs including increased offertories, stewardship programs, communications plans and capital campaigns. During his tenure with the Diocese, Mr. Virgadamo generated over $3 million in revenue for parishes and the Diocese. In August, 1983, Mr. Virgadamo was named Director of Development for Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Hartford. In that position he helped to establish the Foundation for the Advancement of Catholic Schools (FACS), a $15 million endowment effort for Catholic education. In addition, he conducted an Archdiocesan annual fund effort for inner city schools, which annually raised over $200,000. He also worked with more than 100 Catholic schools in the establishment and refinement of local school development programs. Prior to assuming his position with the Archdiocese of Hartford, Mr. Virgadamo served as Director of Development for Holy Cross High School, Flushing, New York. In that four-year position he was responsible for the administration and supervision of a total development program including public relations, planned giving, enrollment management, alumni relations, institutional planning, endowment growth and special events. Prior to his position as Director of Development, he served Holy Cross High School for one year as Director of Student Activities and as a mathematics instructor. Since 1985 Steve has been an adjunct or full time member of the Catholic School Management staff. He has provided direct consultative guidance to hundreds of Catholic schools in almost half of the Dioceses of the United States. Few, if any individuals, have worked on site with more Catholic schools in the United States. A gifted speaker and workshop leader, Steve has been a guest lecturer in the Catholic School Leadership Program at Boston College and the University of Dayton. A graduate of Christ the King High School in New York, Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Francis College, Brooklyn, New York, and has done graduate work at the New School for Social Research in New York.
